Blessing List

My Mom was telling Scout, “Scout, if I didn’t have you, I think I would die!”  She has said this to us for years, but never received this response she got from Scout.  He said, “Nonnie….you need to “contamise” your blessings!”  My mom asked him what he was saying, and he repeated it exactly.  We are thinking he was telling her to “count” her blessings!
So when she did count them, he was at the top of her list.

Finger Sucker

My little Dash isn’t too great at the whole plug thing.  Every once in a while, he gets a hold of it, and goes to town.  But most often, he has it, smiles or tries to talk and then drops it.  So just like a nurse in the NICU told me, I have been showing him his hand.
p1120740.jpg
Apparently, his finger is working out just fine.
p1120742.jpg
Here is my boy in dreamland while we hung at Abalone beach on a rainy afternoon with the Whites.  Scout and Riley were playing like champs, and Sidney and Icka were also.  With a sleeping baby, and two well-contained kids, (and even some Nonnie beach time), it was awesome!

6 Days Left

p1120734.jpg
You know Scout has been in a body cast too long when I dream of him, and he is in that thing!
ONLY 6 DAYS LEFT!
Hooray!

Boundry Change

Our ward boundaries were just split.  I’ll be very honest in saying that I think we got the shaft on some levels — not all, but some.  So as I have been kind of bummed, I have told Scout and Navy about the change.  When I told Scout that he would be leaving a lot of his old friends, and that it might be different and a little hard, he nonchalantly said, “Well MOM, we can always just get in our car and drive to our old friend’s houses.”  And then he went on and said, “And MOM, you have me and Icka.  And we are all each others very best friends.”
Then as I was telling Navy the same thin.  As I was doing her hair for school, I said, “You know Ivy will go to church at a different time, but aren’t you excited because Sawyer will now get to be your church friend.”   She paused and looked at me, and said, “Mom, you are my very best friend.  Sawyer can only be my next friend.”

p1120736.jpg
Well, at least Navy got to finally wear one of the favorite dresses I got her in France a year and a half ago.  Getting bad news is one thing.  Getting bad news while looking bad is a whole other!  Thanks goes out to the Frenchies for letting us get the shaft in style!

Lock of Love

img_3352.jpg
Dash has rubbed most of his hair off.
All except this little lock of love.
I am not sure if I should cut it, or leave it to match Scout’s Grandma Hair and Micah’s mullet.

Superbowl Sunday

Each year, we head down to the Brockbanks for Superbowl Sunday.  If you want to know the truth, I probably only watch a total of ten minutes of the game.  It is more of an excuse to have a blast and hang with the cousins at Megan’s expense!  This year was no exception.
img3517-x2.jpg
Scout immediately got Trey out on the trampoline, because there is no slowing down this kid.  And Trey is the ultimate sport and is always game for Scout.
img3524-x2.jpg
Icka was out there too, but opted for the slide.
img3531-x2.jpg
When the lobster/shrimp/wings feast was ready, Trey the stud brought Scout in.  It is amazing who carries this guy around.  At first, I think it was intimidating to people, but between Skylar, Trey, Cade, Nonnie and even Icka, this guy manages to be everywhere!
-
Megan called Scout to ask him what he wanted for dessert.  Of course he picked the chocolate fountain.
DUH!
img2055-xl.jpg
Here he is as he insisted on helping set it up because it was for him!
img3533-x2.jpg
And here he is — biting into his own little heaven.
img3539-x2.jpg
Things started to get a bit messy, but chocolate is pretty easy to wipe up.  Unless it lands on his cast!
img3559-x2.jpg
Too bad we took such a nonchalant attitude, because after we had all had our feast, my two kids thought it was their very own art medium.
img3554-x2.jpg
A bigger “too bad” goes to the fact that Icka liked the chocolate so much, she “didn’t need anything to dip” because she liked “just the chocolate”.
Apparently on her fingers.
(FYI - every one else was finished at this point!)
img3568-x2.jpg
Although she was disgusting, and a little too sketchy to carry over Megan’s newly cleaned carpet, we stuck her in the kitchen sink for a bath.
img3569-x2.jpg
She chillaxed as she soaked.
img3575-x2.jpg
And then accepted a makeover from Chloe.

Abalone Beach

Scout’s best preschool buddy Riley has a private beach.  I guess it would actually be his parents!  They have invited us quite a few times, but the stars didn’t align until today.  So on this beautiful February day (70+ degrees), we headed down.  And it was INSANE!  It was literally private.  Very beautiful.  Full of wildlife.  Had awesome caves.  Had shade at the beach house.  (My favorite part!)  And had the hostess with the mostess.
p1120692.jpg
The house is in the back, and the entire cove was just for us.  It was so nice not to watch you kids like lunatics because there wasn’t anyone else there!
p1120687.jpg
Here are RoRo and Navy with Missy’s impressive starfish she found. The thing was huge!
p1120689.jpg
Even Scout wanted to feel it.
p1120702.jpg
Here is Riley with another one of the starfish.
He is the nicest boy, and was so accommodating to his body cast bud.
They played together all day long, and Riley made it all so fun for Scout.
But I will admit that Scout was super quiet at first.  And I am pretty sure it was because he wanted to be in the water like all of the other kids.  So thank goodness for Riley who made non water stuff so great!
p1120693.jpg
Icka is really fun at the beach!  She just cruises the whole time.  And she was best buds with Sydney who is Riley’s younger sister.
p1120709.jpg
Riley told us we needed to go and check out the caves, and so we headed over.
p1120710.jpg
At first, Scout’s stroller looked to be too big, but I knew Bella could get it through.  (I could have, but I had Dash in the Baby Bjorn.  So I went to my trusty sister.)
p1120713.jpg
And of course she came through!
p1120714.jpg
Further in the caves, Riley and Icka explored the rocks.
p1120718.jpg
Here Bella is accommodating Scout once more.  There were some cool caves with water in them, so Bella just carried Scout to what the kids were doing.  Honestly, she is AWESOME!
p1120722.jpg
Here are the threesome snacking.  I love that Scout and Navy’s favorite is Riley.  Whenever I pick up Icka from school, I ask her who she played with and it is ALWAYS Riley.  But when I asked Riley how Icka is at school today, he said, “Not very good.”  But then he retracted and said he was kidding.  I do believe he was kidding.  But I also DO believe that there are lots of times when she is “not very good”.
p1120733.jpg
Scout and Riley hung out with another buddy Hanry.  Here is Scout telling him, I can;t go outside…can’t you see my body cast?”  And then the explanation went on…”I was swinging really high in a swing and then I covered my cough and did a really cool trick in the air.”  Then Riley piped in with, “Yeah, his dad was pushing him way too high!”  Poor Micah who takes the blame for my well-mannered boy.
p1120725.jpg
And here is the hostess with literally the mostess!  Missy (and Paul) could not have been nicer or more welcoming.  Not only did they give us access to everything, but she painted Navy’s nails, she supplied my kids with at least a box of popsicles, she had a gazillion sand toys, she made an awesome trampoline with couch pillows, she set up the “girls” area so the boys weren’t bothered, she held Dash when he cried, and the list goes on and on.
Thanks for the really fun day, and even thought I am not a beach person — I could do Abalone Beach any day!
By the way — isn’t Abalone Beach about the cutest beach name ever?

Dreamer

img_3285.jpg
What do you think she is dreaming about?
Hopefully all of the ways to Choose The Right tomorrow.

Whoops!

img_3366.jpg
When I made my way to bed last night, I walked by this little scene.  I knew Ickity Dickity Dock was to blame, so the next morning, I asked her, “Sissy….did you drop over a flower last night?”  And I got the response she ALWAYS gives me when she does something wrong or naughty….”Yeah, but it was just an accident.  It’s okay.”  I get that accidents are okay, but how is walking over your three months old brother and accidentally stepping on him okay?  I have to work this little mystery out in my mind, and then quite possibly have a sit down with her about innocent accidents vs. careless accidents.  Think it will get through to her?  Probably not, but I am still liable as her mother to try and teach!

Service

It has been forever since we have hung out with Britni and fam.
Mostly because she was gone, and then she had sick kids.
But the hiatus was too long for my kids.
So I took care of that when I called and told her I was dropping off all three while I went out to dnner.
That way the kids could bond again and she could serve those who were in need!
p1120681.jpg
Obviously Scout was thrilled as he is hugging the guts out of RoRo.
p1120679.jpg
Here are the three of them (minus Grey).
Dinner was great and peaceful.
The service was well received.
Britni, you are too kind!
Even if I had to force you to be that way.
(Sidenote: Bella was there too.  So she racked up service points also!)
