(L for Love!)
Lately, Scout has been obsessed with asking me if I know who his girlfriend is. (At first I almost had a heart attack because I want my boys to be 18 before they look at girls that way.) But I play along and say, “No handsome.. who is your girlfriend?” The conversation goes as follows:
S: “I’m not gonna tell you, you have to guess.”
M: “Is it Icka?”
S: “Well, she is my second girlfriend. Guess again.”
M: “Is it Nonnie?”
S: “No, but she is my second one too.”
M: “Is it BKaNayNay?”
S: “Nope. Keep guessing.”
M: “Is it Bella?”
S: “NOPE!” (giggling)
M: “I don’t know…tell me.”
S: “No, you have to guess it.”
(There have been times where this game has lasted through 20 people.)
M: “I just can’t guess who it is.”
S: “Well, I’m going to marry this person.”
M: “Who is it!”
S: “I’m going to marry YOU!”
Handsome — I would marry you in a second if there wasn’t any weirdness involved.
XOXO
These two are the joys of my life.
Lately……..
*Icka thinks she is big and can get out of her bed when she wakes up in the morning. And as soon as she does, and I hear her little feet running my way, I get greeted by “SURPRISE”. Every morning she “surprises” me, and I look forward to it each time.
*Scout is trying to teach Icka the rest of her letters, and works with her in the bath. So far, she has Y,O,W,Q,S,A,J,H,T,U,Z and a few others under her belt.
*Scout has thought he is the comedian of the century. I’ll admit that he is pretty funny, but I am trying to help him understand that there are places and times to be funny. For example, “I need some milk, woman!” is funny if he is showing off for his dad and grandpa, but not so funny when we are in a restaurant. You get the picture.
*Navy copies EVERYTHING Scout does. If he laughs, she laughs. If he sneezes, she musters one up herself. If he dances, cries, sings, plays a practical joke, blows bubbles in his cereal bowl, chants “Pooty”, or anything else…she is soon to follow. I love it. Lately, I have been calling them the “Tweedles” for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. They think it’s a funny name — and is a good replacement for “weasels”. But unfortunately, “weasels” comes out way more naturally!
*Scout is in primary, and loves it. He tries to sing his little heart out, and we always listen to the CD in the car so he will be prepared for Sunday. He is even practicing one song in particular to maybe sing at an upcoming program.
*Navy had another poop scenario at church. What’s her deal? Let’s just say that a LOT of wipes is tougher than a bath.
*Scout is signed up for T Ball, and can hardly wait. He has been practicing, and is so excited.
*Navy’s vocabulary is equal to Scouts. My mom keeps saying that she can’t believe that she knows every word she ever wants to say. Apparently — she is brilliant like me!
*They both wrestle every night, and have become quite the tag team against their dad. They can certainly hold their own, and Navy is even going off the “top ropes” AKA jumping off the high part of the couch.

I love that these two are best of friends. Can’t wait to add more to the bunch!
I couldn’t find the little twirps for about five minutes — so I finally opened the window to listen outside. I heard their little giggles, so headed out myself to scold them for leaving the house without permission. When I went outside, I found a diaper — messy diaper — laying on the sidewalk. Then I saw this little thing running all over the place in celebration of her new found freedom, giggling, playing a game with Scout….and finger-painted with her nastiness all over.
And on top of it all — she had a snot nose.
NASTY!
The gardeners laughed when I called out, “Lo Siento!”
Back to the bath for the second time in an hour.
On our way in, I stopped off to show Mama Mia the damage, and she said, “Well, at least nobody would want to take her.”
True — and very positive Mom.
I have figured something out after being married for over five years. Don’t ask me why it has taken me so long to catch on, but for all of you one through four yearers - listen up! Instead of waiting around for your husband to do something special for you, or to say something nice…..just tell him exactly what you want, and they usually just rise to the occasion. Like a few days ago, I told Micah I wanted him to surprise me with a date this week. And look — we are set to go out tonight. And then yesterday, I told him that since we had entered the “lover’s month”, I would like a heart felt compliment each day. Yesterday’s compliment was a doozy! My man thought up, “Have you been doing something different lately, because you have been looking more beautiful than usual.” I laughed and laughed (because I haven’t been doing anything differently). Can’t wait to see what today holds!!!
Good advice, eh?
I was surprised when Micah set up a few hours to color this past Sunday. He set up the activity table with paper covering the top, and got out everything we own to color away. The kids were in heaven — especially with their legal pass to use markers!
These are the Mr. Sketch markers, and Sissy kept smelling them — hence, the polka dot nose.
Scout and I completed this mask, that he thought was so “cute”.
And Micah was in his own world. He literally didn’t move for hours as he colored about four of these girls. I’ll admit that he has a mean color in him, but no wonder he set up coloring time. He just wanted to brag!
