Sure Mommy

My finger in the ears trick is working out pretty good.  He is saying “mommy, will you please _________” and then afterwards, he says, “Thank you Mommy”.  It is so stinking cute.  But nothing is cuter that when he is really trying to be good, and I ask him to do something, and he excitedly says, “sure mommy!”  I melt.  The best is when he wakes up in a really good mood, and I get an entire morning of sure mommies.  We are totally best friends!

Trey’s Spooktacular

Trey’s birthday party was possibly Megan’s best to date.  There was food for days (all spooky themed), make your own glow-in-the-dark slime, a spook alley where the teenagers dressed up to scare the kids, (and I was the creepy tour guide telling them about the spirits who were upset that a house was built upon their ancient indian burial ground — can you imagine??? Oh yeah Zimms —- you can!)  What a night!  And total props to Trey for letting his 2 year old cousin tag along for the festivities.  When I thanked Trey for letting Scout be a part of it all, he was confused.  He loved Scout being there, and didn’t know there was another way?  Trey is a party animal, and lives by the philosophy….the more the merrier.

These teens just had some practice of their own at Knott’s Scary Farm, and reenacted like champs!

Every tombstone had one of our names on it, and a poem about how we died.  Scout was eaten by a trout, and Navy drowned in Gravy.  Megan — you are out of control!

It wasn’t a dress up party, but Scout and I are always looking for a reason to whip out a costume.  So Captain Underpants made another appearance.

Scout’s favorite part of the night was putting masks on and scaring everyone.  I particularly like the last one of his great, great, great grandfather.  It was his favorite too!

The next morning, he got up and dug through his goodie bag for a few hours.  I love that he is at the age where everything is new and cool.

My Slurper

Sweets tried spaghetti noodles for the first time and loved them.  My thoughts –  they were a little messy, and I was glad we omitted the sauce.  She had the slurping down to a science, and at one point I started to pull one out of her mouth.  With only an inch exposed, I pulled slowly so I didn’t break the noodle, and I ended pulling the entire noodle out.  The funny thing is that after spaghetti night, Sis knows how to drink out of a straw.  Looks like her slurping practice carried over.  Look at her in action: (I love that she always has a death grip with both hands on the food while she munches away.  This can be expected at every meal.)

Like Father Like Daughter

I have always been known to have good hair.  It is fairly thick and has decent body.  Unfortunately after I got married, my hair gets no love.  Micah has taken over.  Weather it is McDreamyish when he has gel in it, or asian afroish when he lets it go, he is the hair comment hog.  I will admit, Micah does have pretty amazing hair.

I always wonder if Scout and Navy will Micah’s or my hair.  Scout looks like he will have mine, and I think Sis got her dads.  When Micah was a baby, his hair stuck straight up like grass, and Navy’s is kind of starting to do the same — especially in the back.  Time will tell, but I can’t even wait to play and style her locks in a few years!

Don’t you love that lucky swirl in the front!  Scout still kisses it for good luck!

First BandAid

Sis has had a few bruises due to bathtub falls, and scratches due to my lack of cutting her nails in a timely manner.  But her first real booboo happened yesterday.  She hurt her toe, and it was bleeding everywhere.  Sadly, I don’t even know what happened.  She didn’t make a peep when she got hurt.  I found out because I had blood on me and traced it back to her.  Scout was beside himself with excitement that Sis got to have a Bandaid.  Then he started to tell me about every single booboo he has had in the past.  (He knew almost every one!)  He was trying to con me into giving him a Bandaid, especially when he told me that his booboo on his knee was still pink.  It was tough, but I am proud to say that I didn’t give in.  Scout is walking around sans Bandaid.

Not Such Sweet Dreams

Poor little Scout has been plagued with nightmares for the past few months.  It isn’t every night, and I am convinced it is mostly when he is too hot while he sleeps.  (I get nightmares when I am too hot, and Micah just told me that he does also.)  Anyway, I was sleeping with him last night, and three different times, he woke up upset.  The worse was when he woke me from a dead sleep, and was screaming bloody murder.  I said, “Scout, I am right here.  Were you having a bad dream?”  He said he was, and when I asked him what it was about, he said, “BEARS!”  Poor guy.  After he was awake and I asked him about his dream, he completely recounted his time at Disneyland with Micah when they found the caves for the bad guys and the bears.  (babe — he might be a little young for all the details.)

The good news is that towards the morning, he started cracking up in his sleep and then said, “you see dat?”  I would love to know what type of showing off he was doing in that dream.

Support Crew

In honor of Micah’s cousin Jason playing football for DHHS, we get Scout and Navy gussied all up.  Unfortunately the last shirt I made for Scout never reappeared, so I had to find another shirt to write on.  Because the only white shirt I had was the one sissy used in the hospital, we made do.  So Scout sported a crop top to the game.  When Micah saw it he was appalled, but I reasured him that he was going to wear a sweatshirt the entire time, and just let the top of it peak out.  Too bad that Scout was so in love with his shirt, (probably due to the laughs he got whenever someone saw it), he was not into wearing a sweatshirt to cover it up.  I am wondering if he is going to start a new trend.

On the other hand, Icka’s outfit was pretty tame.  And to our surprise, she was really good at the game as long as she could stuff anything and everything in her mouth.  Between pirate booty and bread sticks, she was as happy as can be.  Our worry was that she is so constantly on the go, (notice the picture where she is climbing the stairs at top speed), that sitting in one place for over two hours wouldn’t jive.  But with B’s trick of bringing the car seat along, and my ability to have food in her hands at every moment, the game was a success.
