He Loves Canteloupe
Twinners
It is funny, because I can see some similarities between my two kids, but I would never call them twins. But no matter where we are, people are dying over how much they look like one another. Here are pictures of them both at 7 months….so see for yourself…
I take it back. They are twins. Good thing Icka was wearing a girly bathing suit to give away who was who.
We Miss Our Cousins!
Provo Canyon
ne of my favorite pictures of Scout is when Skilly is holding him at three months up Provo canyon. So when we went there this past summer, I made sure to get a shot of Skilly and Icka, and another with Scout. Talk about picturesque.
Scout at 3 months.
Scout at 2 1/4 years old.
Icka at 7 months.
I find it interesting that my photo up Provo canyon doesn’t quite have the same appeal. Odd….isn’t it?
Must have been the lighting.
Ready For Halloween
I can’t believe it is fall already. It seems like summer just started. Scout and I decorated for Halloween yesterday, but first to my mom’s disgust, I turned him into a female dalmatian so he could get into the spirit. (My mom’s disgust was a result of permanent marker all over my boy….not that he was a female dog.) Afterward, he immediately hopped into the pool before all of that black rubbed off on the furniture. Ruff Ruff.
Scout’s Special Date
Because Micah got in free at Disneyland on his birthday, he took Scout on a special date. Besides getting their stroller “stolen” and having to file a report, they had the best time. (It ended up showing up, due to it being relocated because Micah parked it in a non stroller zone. Who has ever heard of a non stroller zone?) Scout was in heaven because he got to do total guy stuff. Stuff I literally have never done in all my times at Disneyland. They hung out in Tarzan’s Treehouse and on Tom Sawyer’s island a good chunk of the day. Then Micah waited in the really long line at Mickey’s house. I would never! Good for him. Scout zonked on the way home in his chillaxed way. He snapped a few shots, and I am loving them. How cute!
33
Shmickety Dickety had his 33rd birthday on Saturday. I honor….I went original and had a dinner party for him with a few friends including the Zimms, Zimms and Tackys. We had a great time, and laughed pretty good. The highlight of the night was definitely B. Tacky telling his “fired” and “Steve Jobs” stories. A close second was Jim Zimm’s ability — or lack there of — at playing Balderdash. Those guys are classic! Happy birthday babe, and I hope my cooking and party planning made it great!
Scout’s First Prayer….
Dear Heavenly Father…..(by this time he is completely sprawled out on the ground because kneeling and folding is too hard)…Thank you for this day….and my mommy….and daddy….and baby Icka….and mommy….and BKaNayNay…..and daddy….(he is at this point totally rolling around, and pausing as he thinks really hard about what to say, even though he just says the same thing over and over)…..and baby Icka…..and Nonnie…..(he now is looking around the room)…and this remote….and this pillow….and this toy…(I try to regroup and say “in the name”)…and then he just shouts Amen!
Reverent — not so much. Cute — very!
More Tears and My Tantrum Aversion
Scout finished his dinner last night and stood up on his chair and asked, “mommy, will you please get me down?” I told him, “Scout, I am so happy….you were such a good boy at dinner tonight. And thank you for asking nicely to get down.” Then I gave him a big kiss and got him down. As I was holding him to get him down he said, “Did you get tears in your eyes cause you’re so happy?” I hadn’t, but after that comment I did.
On a different note, Scout has recently been known to throw a tantrum or two. I am SO not into them and really wanted a way to curb them. I tried time outs, ignoring them and a few others….all to no avail. But then a stroke of genius came over me, and I have figured out a pretty decent trick. As soon as Scout turns on the tantrum, I put my fingers in my ears so he sees me, and all but once, he has calmed down and then said, “Mommy, will you please take the teeny tiny microscopic fleck of pepper off of my food that is grossing me out.” Maybe that is more detail than he says, but he does ask nicely with a please and thank you. Glad I have this on up my sleeve.
