A Big Girl

The beauty of the blog…..I checked up on when Scout got his first tooth, and it was at 6 months and 3 weeks.  My little overachiever Sweets Da Deets has her first as of two days ago.  So at 4 months and 3 weeks — a whopping two months faster — Navy has her little bottom tooth.  Two nights ago, Micah discovered it.  Interestingly enough, when I checked on it the next morning, it was there alongside a little bloody gum.  In all of my memory, I don’t remember a new tooth being accompanied by blood.  I wonder if Micah was really searching, and maybe sped the process up a bit by pressing down?  It was innocent, but poor little thing!  I’ll have to admit,  I was unusually proud when I saw it.  The little girl was a silent sufferer, and never complained at all!  What a total trooper!

Poser

I heard Tristen play the harmonica, and it sounded alright.  I told her I wanted to learn, and then we could play duets, and she said, “NO….I’m the harmonica player in this family!”  Brat! So I now speak the truth…..she isn’t really that good.  And on my to do list this week…..buy a harmonica, and whip the pants off of her!

I Got The Letter!

I finally got the coveted letter that every mom wants.  I can’t believe that it was me who got it.  I can’t believe that my waiting on pins and needles has finally ended!  It was placed ever so carefully on the end of my bed, and when I came home last night to find it, I almost got tears in my eyes.  Mother’s out there, you might have your turn, but this time I was the lucky one.  Have a read:

I am sorry to say that Miss Clifford only accepts one student each summer.  I guess it is worth $25.00 to have educational babysitting every single summer day.  I guess it is up to me to provide some pretty sweet summer school field trips.  Thanks Miss Clifford, and we will see you outside your classroom on June 22nd.  Skilly is a total dream!  No wonder our second is named after her!

Masterpiece

Scout has become one seriously picky eater.  He used to eat everything under the sun, but those times have gone by the wayside.  He is basically down to any kind of fruit, rice balls, miso soup, soybeans, carrots, any sort of “teat” and my specialty….bread with a happy face in it that I make with my very own teeth.  Skills!

His First Burial

Jake dug a seriously deep hole for Scout to get buried in.  At first he thought it was cool and funny….and even if he didn’t, look at the crowd around him telling him it was cool and funny!  Then when the sand was packing him in, he hesitated.  But with his hat in check, and his ring pop ready…..he thought it was cool and fun again.

Smile Dude

Scout’s new “smile”.  I love it!  He also insists on wearing his hat backwards because he is a “dude”.

Jakey’s Bonfire

In honor of the birthday boy, we had a bonfire at the beach.  Scout was with his cousins….so he was obviously in Heaven the whole time.  It was Navy’s first time to the sand, and she gave it a thumbs up.  Who wouldn’t……she was adored by all and was waited on hand and foot.

My Wake Up Call

I wake up to this little sweet thing crooking her neck to catch a glimpse of me every morning.  She puts a smile on my face every time I see it. Then we coozie and sing songs, and she pulls daddy’s hair.

Cheerios

Scout was stacking his Cheerios on his fork before he would eat them, and I thought it was so impressive, so I grabbed my camera.  He had eaten his fully stacked fork by the time I returned, and was starting a new round.  He had two on, but as soon as he saw the camera, he started being the little comedian.  The Cheerios went up his nose and in his ears from that point forward.

I especially like the “bull” look he is going for.

Jumpin Jammin’

Sweets is finally into what was Scout’s favorite toy.  I have been dying to see if she likes it as much as Scout did, and she is getting there.  Scout would jump like a maniac for hours in it.  Navy is loving the little toys, and being able to spin.  I love how mini and chunky she looks in it.  Her little toes are barely able to touch the floor, so I usually fold a towel up under it.  That way, she can have a flat foot on the ground instead of just the tips of her toes….although it would be good ballerina practice.  She isn’t jumping yet, but time will tell.  She is usually content for about ten to fifteen minutes, which allows me to get a few things done.  So far….so good.
