Chloe and Megan came into town and spent the night. I treated Scout by letting Chloe sleep in his room with him, and he was stoked. Funny that it took them both a bit to fall asleep. Funnier that at 3:00 in the morning, I heard running around and giggling. I thought it was so funny that they were up “trying to find me” but they never even came into my room…even when I said…”Hey, I am in here”. About fifteen minutes later, Megan must have stopped the craziness, and she brought Stinkpot down to us. He coozied like crazy and kept leaning over and giving me kisses, and like usual….he had to lay perpendicular to Micah and me so he could be touching both of us. He is so cute. But the cuteness comes up a little short when he wakes up earlier than he should have, next to a sleeping 4 month old, in a total panic, and screams, “PEEPS!” —Yes, the nasty sugar covered marshmellow things— (His and Nonnie’s favorites.) In honor of his explosion, I went and took him to his Nonnie so the could reminisce about their Easter/Peep haydays.
Scout’s Sleepover
My Favorite…..
….time of day is early in the morning when it is quiet and I am all by myself. I watch the sun rise. I read my scriptures. I write my blog. I just catch up on my life without any distractions.
….time of the week is right after church on Sundays. I put the kids down, the house is quiet, there is nothing on the schedule except be with eachother, and Micah and I get some quality time together.
….thing to do is take a road trip. If I am by myself, I never turn the radio on….I just think. I am a major fan of driving in silence.
….mishap is that I broke my cell phone. I was bathing Navy while my cell phone was tucked safely in my bra, and it slipped. (Due to not owning a purse and never having pockets.) According to people, I need to get one, but I love that I don’t have to always be available. I love that I spend time on my children….not my phone.
I think my love of QUIET is a running theme in my life. I think of the time when I was young and went shopping with my mom to the new cool store “Wet Seal”. When we walked in, the music was playing pretty loudly, and my mom humiliated me as she exclaimed, “would somebody turn this crap off!” I now get it. I constantly want to say the same thing….but I don’t. I just think it, because I am waiting for my kids to get a bit older, so I can embarrass them.

He Is The Man!
My nephew Jake had a list of goals on his whiteboard in his room. One was run a marathon, so about three months ago, I told him if he trained, I would pay the entrance fee for the L.A. Marathon on Memorial Day. He was game, and stuck to his training schedule like glue. The big day came, and he was SO nervous. I told him not to sweat it because he was going to have tons of fans cheering him along, and the excitement of the race would get him to finish line also. Finish….he did in 4 hours and 2 minutes. He would have gone under his 4 hour mark if he wouldn’t have needed a little blister aid or make stops at the facilities. But officially….4:02!
Tons of us were there to support, and Micah jumped in 1/2 way to help him along. Jake’s 1st half was really strong. He later said the Micah started running with him at the perfect time. Micah told us that there were times when Jake was really struggling, but he would try and talk him through it, and they would make progress little by little. Micah said that when he watched him struggle through the pain and cramping to keep going, he was so proud of him, and it would even bring mini tears to his eyes. I love my little softie! We were able to see him run four times during the race, and at the end. When I saw him right after the race, he said, “That was the hardest thing I have ever done.” Later he said that he doesn’t know if he will ever do another marathon. I am so impressed that at 15 years old….even before he can drive, he completed what many people never acconplish. Way to go Jake!
At 4:30 am on our way to the race. Don’t mind that 45 minutes after this picture, the battery in my car went bunk and I had to have AAA come and replace it in the middle of nowhere in L.A.
We had a T-Shirt contest for $20, and we were obviously the winners. But I humbly pulled myself from the competition so that others could make some mullah.
Micah’s T-Shirt that said, “This Guy Is The Man” with an arrow pointing at Jake. Contrary to what is seen here, Micah was meticulous to stay to Jake’s left side so the arrow pointed properly. Unfortunately, the only picture that came out with Micah’s shirt clear was one where he was on the right.
This one of Jake’s harder moments in the race. I think it was somewhere around mile 19ish.
Some of the best looking spectators.
Keeping warm after he finished! He was wiped, but so happy he finished.
His support group minus me and Belly. Belly was the photographer, and I was………
Nursing.
Baja Fish Tacos as a celebratory meal. Jake was starving and wiped. He slept in the car most of the way. After he got out, he said that he was so glad that he came in our car so he could get some peace and zzzz’s. The other car was definitely the party mobile.
He came home to more fans who were so proud of him. Nonnie also had this cake for him alongside $100 she said she would cough up if he finished! A few other suckers were also in on that action, and he made $300 for completing the race. Good for him, because he is saving up to buy a car.
Last but not least…..I gave him the really special gift of having my winning T-Shirt. And the best part is that he is seriously going to wear it to school. Talk about a cool kid!
**Update** — Jake was overheard saying that he wants to do his next marathon in July! I guess he might have the bug. Wierd that the “bug” never came my way?!
Happy Birthday Ka!
4 Month Babe
It is literally unreal that you are 4 months. In honor, we spent the day shopping. You were an angel. I am proud to say that at four months, you are trying your skills at the chopsticks….
Look at those rolls! You love trying new foods all of the time, and one of your latest favorites is frosting.
You smile all of the time, and are happy to be everyone’s personal doll.
You are completely good natured, and are starting to love bath time. You kick like crazy in the water, and also in your swing. You actually look like you are doing the “robot” in your swing, because you keep your arms stiff and move them around. It is pretty stinking cute. You happily take thousands of kisses from everyone, and especially Scout who is a bit rough around the edges. He crawls over you, steps on you, and bonks your head to get a kiss your way, and you love his kisses. You love to hear Scout sing Zippity Doo Dah, and are staring at him whenever he is around. You have adjusted to not liking your plug, and have found your hand to suck on. You are still a great sleeper, and I am usually the one who has to wake you up because I need to feed you. But yesterday when you woke up first, and I heard a little movement in your bed and looked over, and your head was up and staring at me, I almost melted. I woke dad up, and died over how darling you are. You make the most un-ladylike noises all of the time in the form of grunts, burps and other stuff. Speaking of burps, you could beat out any truck driver around. I especially like when you have the entire two rows in church laughing at your burps. You are a dream of a daughter, and I absolutely adore you.

Brother and Sis
I have noticed that I have a lack of pictures with both Scout and Navy in them. In an attempt to get a few more together, I had a three minute photo shoot. These are the results:
It started out with him crawling on my lap because he wasn’t interested in Icka being the only one next to mom. Then I decided to get them together for a few real shots.

Scout wasn’t interested, and only wanted to go throw every ball in sight into the pool.
Easier to get individual shots.
Finally got a good shot of both when I put the camera away. (but obviously pulled it out quickly when they were both sitting nicely.)
She loves her brother. She is always staring at him and his shenanigans.
What A Weekend!
Talk about busy and fun! A week ago, Ashley and fam came in town. I never saw Scout when they were here. Scout’s total buddies Colby and Camden provided hours and hours of entertainment. On Friday we all went to Legoland. “All” included Brockbanks, Cliffords, Ash and fam, Nonnie, Denisons…..and Seth and fam. We had a blast, and I am a fan of this amusement park for youngens. Scout had a great time, Navy was content, the food was actually pretty good at the park, and I am pleased to announce that I got a free $125 to spend in the park. To the disgust of my husband and mom, I signed up for a two hour tour of a local resort, and got the gift card! They laughed, but came back to me with their tails between their legs when they wanted me to buy something! Yeah right! Dream on dreamers!
Then on Saturday, we had a birthday party for Stinkpot with about 40 people. It was a BBQ and swimming extravaganza. I wanted to make it simple, so I just bought an inner tube for all 17 kids, turned the heat in the pool up, turned the jacuzzi to high, had burgers and dogs, and let everyone chat and/or swim. Again….a total blast!
(Spanky and Skylar also had birthdays, so we celebrated with cupcakes for all of them.)
(All of the kids were loving the inner tubes.)
(Can’t you tell! By the way, Trey is in the middle of those tubes!)
(What a shot! She was completely out after Bree held her for a bit.)
Finally, Navy was blessed on Sunday. Most of the same people were also there for the blessing, and a lunch afterward. One bonus was the “aunties” who made it out. A great day, and so special. She is almost 4 months, and wasn’t into the lying down part of the blessing, so she cried during the second half. I thought it was cute. We had a delicious and light lunch afterward of Marcy’s salad, garlic bread and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
(She looks like an angel.)
(Some of the attendees. Talk about a crazy and rowdy bunch.)
(The aunties. Don’t mind Tristen just being herself.)
(Navy was blessed in my same blessing dress. I am so glad my mom kept it for all of these years. I can’t wait for her little girl to wear it. Isn’t it sweet.)
(One of the few times a year that all of the sisters are together. We always have the best time together!)
(She is so stinking cute! I L-O-V-E her!)
Everyone packed up and left Sunday night, and I was utterly exhausted. I just thought of the mess downstairs and wanted to die! I finally had Navy fed and down, so I made my way down to surprisingly find…..a sparkling and completely spotless kitchen. What a guy! Micah had even cleaned out the fridge of anything that was old. Including condensing everything down to smaller Tupperware. I was beyond happy with the surprise.
We got Scout to sleep, and Navy was already in bed, and both plopped down on the couch. I then made the comment, “Babe….I love and thrive on all the commotion. But when everyone is gone and everything is calm, that is nice too.” No sooner than the word “calm” left my mouth, did we have an earthquake! Micah and I started busting up. Classic! (Sidenote: that was the first earthquake I was ever scared in because I was so worried that Scout was going to be scared. Ahhhh….. a mother’s love!)
