I got tears in my eyes…..

when Micah called from his business trip to wish Scout a Happy 1st Birthday.  I really can’t believe that an entire year has passed.  A while back I walked into one of my favorite stores–The Paper Source– and saw their mantra “Do something creative every day” posted everywhere.  I thought, “that would be great if I was really creative.”  So instead, I created “Do something fun every day”.  So as of late, Scout and I are doing something fun every day - whether it is a picnic at the pool, going to the library, making a road trip, or getting his favorite fish from Baja Fish Taco.  I can’t believe that the day I really had something fun planned - his 1st birthday, Scout will be spending the day like this…..

….Poor guy is on day four of being sick.  Can’t wait for him to get better so we can CELEBRATE!

That’s Great!

I have a bad habbit of laughing after Scout does something naughty.  Unfortunately it has come back to bite me, because when he grabbed his food the other day and put on top of his head in his hair I thought it was funny.  Especially since he was headed to the bath soon after.  SO every time he eats now, in an attempt to make me laugh, he sticks all of his food in his hair.  Sweet!

Du…Du….Du

p1010991.jpg

All day, every day, Scout cruises around saying Du.  Micah thinks it is just a sound that he makes, but he obviously doesn’t know about Scout’s obsession with ducks.  It all started when we moved, and a duck couple started living in our pool and on our front lawn.  hey are now so comfortable, that if we don;t close the front door, they come on in and make themselves at home.  Scout wants to see them every second of every day, and constantly crawls to the front door so he can go out and see them.  Unfortunately the ducks are having marital problems, and only the daddy duck is around — according to Skilly, they got a duck divorce.

Silent (from husband) Auctions

Last year, Micah and I went to a charity event that was holding a silent auction. I am a total sucker for anything fun, so OF COURSE I was going to bid. I knew Micah wouldn’t be a fan of spending money on something frivolous, so I literally made it a “silent auction”.

When we were at dinner, a nice lady approached our table and asked Mr. Denison for his credit card, because his was the winning bid. YEAH! Micah handed over the credit card and turned to glare at me. I was just cracking up, and explained that it was really a surprise for him. When the lady returned with a pair of Medieval Times tickets, he started laughing at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. I explained that it was a place I have always wanted to go, but who in their right mind wants to fork out $50 a ticket…….

Well, it was the Zimmerman brothers who wanted to shell out the $50. Too bad they got discount coupons, and we ended up paying the most out of everyone to go. Whoops…next time I will bid on some jewelry!

We went a few nights ago, and had a totally good time. Jessica and John got really into it with me and Micah. At the other end of the table, Adrienne didn’t feel 100%, and Jim was more concerned about eating with his fingers. (Jim is the most classic guy I know!) He also wasn’t really into watching “barn animals”.

The night was great…and I have to admit the fighting was intense. Maybe a few WWF delayed reactions on the fighting, but still fairly good. I can’t wait to take my kids when they are older. Good times with the Zimmerman clan…..let’s hit up some more adolescent/kid friendly attractions in the future. But let’s make sure that Jim has some utensils next time!

A Week Hiatus

img_0309.jpg

I headed out to Colorado this past week to see Shem and Nathan’s families.  We had the greatest time.  Scout has perfected his trick of sticking his tongue out at Belly, and proceeded to do so the whole time.  Speaking of Belly…she did a photo shoot with Skills to pay the Bills and Hailey.  I must say that both fathers should be scared…these two are knockouts!

Aunt Belly is naughty!

Tristen had Scout the night of April Fools, and I think she is mistaking on the whole concept.  Rather than trick or “fool” people, I think she thought she was supposed to dress someone up like a fool.  Unfortunately this time…..it was Scout. (Notice his red painted nails….Sweet!)

11 month birthday / Trial run…..

p1010954.jpg

Just like anything else in life, “practice makes perfect”.  I recently heard of someone celebrating their kid’s first birthday, and the whole cake part was a disaster.  He didn’t want to touch it, let alone dig right in.  So in an attempt at having a boy that really got messy, I gave Scout a trial run.

I am proud to say….it was a success!
