The Littlest Emporer

How classic is this outfit I got Scout! Every time I put it on him everyone laughs hysterically. Thank goodness I have a back up Halloween costume for him if my homemade ice cream cone doesn’t work out!

Lo Wu….

We went to Lo Wu for some serious shopping. It was SO fun, and let’s just say that we closed all of the shops down at 11:00pm, and had to run as fast as we could to the last train that left back to Hong Kong. There were purse shops, electronic shops, clothes shops etc. but one of our favorite stops was this wig shop!

China

The second day we got here, we headed into China. We had a really fun time, and for fear of forgetting some highlights…..I am writing them down. So amongst some of the festivities, here are some of the favorites:

1. Hitting the fabric mart where they had blocks and blocks of fabric stores—SO FUN until my mom got lost for over an hour with the baby! She wasn’t worried, but with her UNability to get around without knowing the language, I didn’t have high hopes. We finally found her, and she said I “was taking too long and she just wanted to shop”.

2. My mom and I went to an authentic Korean BBQ for lunch — Could have been so fun if the meat wasn’t fatty — but very interesting and cultural. My favorite part was the two really nice ladies who were obsessed with Scout, and held and played with my baby the entire time.
3. Walking through a very authentic chinese mall. It was in a city where they don’t have tourists, so we really saw what China was like. We had a tour guide/friend (Taylor Shupe) who spoke the language, and on top of translating like a saint, he made us try nasty desserts the chinese people love with shaved ice, fruit and condensed milk poured over the top. I actually may have liked it in the US, but when I was forced to try it in the middle of a “not so clean looking place”, I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it.
4. We stayed in this amazing hotel for 37 US Dollars. It was literally a five star hotel that was opened just three months ago in Don Guan. –But make sure to say Don tonally higher than Guan, or you will be saying something completely different. Tristen was trying to ask someone on the KLR (train) which way to Don Guan. They looked at her with a blank stare after she had said it at least 10 times. Then I said it with my interpretation of the tones (which my mom says sound like a sick chicken) and the person immediately started shaking their head in agreement and repeated it over and over to Tristen with the tones. She then pointed us in the right direction.

Great times!

Nice and Comfy

My mom couldn’t stop laughing at me on the plane. All I did was utilize everything they gave us. And although it looks a little funny, the Honeycomb Face Mask was fabulous. Instead of walking off the plane totally dried out, I was completely refreshed….stinks for you that you didn’t use it Mom!

Hong Kong - the flight!

When I told people I was going to spend close to 16 hours on a flight with a five month old, I had nothing but negative feedback.  Everyone thought I was crazy, but for some reason I wasn’t worried.  And all I have to say is that THANK GOODNESS I literally have a perfect child.  I PRAY that he is as perfect on the way home.

Mr. OCD has me to thank!

We headed up to the airport together this morning (me, my mom, Scout & Micah).  I was all packed and ready to go last night, but Mr. OCD had a few loose ends this morning.  He made us about 20 minutes late out the door….but we had and have PLENTY of time….due to his insistence of getting to the airport 3 hours early (who does that?). Apparently he “would rather get there 6 hours early than 6 minutes late.  I honestly think this is the earliest I have ever been at an airport.  We leave at 1:15, and we are currently sitting in the first class lounge at 11:15.  Yes — you heard that right….WE!  Little Mr. OCD has me to thank for reaching my arm over the counter and grabbing an extra “invitation” to the first class lounge.  I am always up for taking one for the team!

OCD!

Very coincidentally, Micah and I are both going to China.  He is going for a business trip, and I am going to vacation.  Amazingly enough we are on completely different flights, but we leave 20 minutes apart from eachother out of the same Los Angeles terminal.  The similarities go on and on…..but there is one MAJOR difference!  If you walked into our room right now, you would see his perfectly lined up set of luggage — including a suitcase, a garment bag, a carry on and another carry on.  On the other side of the house — in my closet…there is just a big heap of laundry that still needs to be done before I leave.  It is amazing how different we are (in other words, how OCD he is!)….he packed everything yesterday, and I am writing this at 9:30, the night before I am leaving at 7:00 am.  I am actually going to start, but I have two major dilemmas….1. What a pain it all is! 2.  Summer Thacker is a stalker!  She won’t stop calling to let me pack!  Well — I am off to pack……and then to bed!  Ciao!

Scummy….I am the Funnest Mom Ever!

Scummy has this ongoing battle with me on who is the funnest mom ever.  It is obviously me, but she will fight it until the bitter end that she is more fun than I am.  Well, just to show her up….I am on my way to Hong Kong with my 5 and a half month old baby.  The flight is a short 14+ hours, and I will be traveling with the one and only…..the baby whisperer…Pat Ure!!!  Too bad Scummy….I officially have you beat!

I’m Exhausted…

knotts-2.jpg

It is Thursday….five days after Knott’s Scary Farm….and I have barely recovered!  I guess I am getting old - how SAD!  We had a blast, and everyone started out pretty scared, but by the end of the night (basically when we were leaving) everyone was pretty at ease with all of the monsters.  If you will notice in one of the pictures, Calin and Jake had their entire heads covered, and you can’t see her, but Skylar crouched down to the bottom of the cart we were in, between three Japanese strangers.  They thought our group was hilarious!  Skylar - the most scared of the bunch - finally figured out that yelling “Please don’t get me…I’m scared” was the wrong way to go.  Once she started yelling, “Get my sister, she will freak out” she diverted all attention from her and became brave.  Also note Micah’s exhausted eyes in the picture we have together. (He claims he was trying to be sexy in the picture!) The poor guy is getting old faster than I am.  He was exhausted, and it was only about midnight.  On the way home, Micah made a bed for all of the kids to sleep, but poor Cade got pushed out of it.  Within ten minutes they were all out, followed quickly by me!  Thanks Shmickster for driving us home safely! It was very fun, and I am sure I will be doing this event many more times in my life…so I better get used to it!

Then on to to the rest of the week……..This week, I have been to Los Angeles to get passports and visas.  Fought a traffic ticket in court –which I won!  Been to a computer training class.  Been to the hospital to visit a friend with cancer. Got sick, alongside my baby and husband, etc…..etc…..etc…… Basically it has been a hectic few, and I had Scout (5 and a half months old) with me the whole time.  However, I can honestly say that I am loving my sleep lately.  Well….on to the next adventure!  I am taking Scout with me to Hong Kong in a few days! I better catch up on a WHOLE LOT of sleep over the next few nights!

A nice note on my pillow….

This is what I found as I retired to bed last night.  I guess I should hurry and get the Knott’s Tickets fast….before the whole group turns on me!
