All I have to say is that Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

Here he is grabbing for his favorite toy.

Let ‘em cry!

p1010249.JPG

Scout started sleeping through the night at one week. It was inconsistent at first, but at one month he slept through the night regularly. Life was blissful until he turned 4 months, when the little guy hit a growth spurt.  He started chowing down twice as much, which included waking up in the middle of the night for a feast. For the past three weeks, I have happily gotten up and fed him…..but then I caught on. For the first two weeks he frantically guzzled, then it slowly turned into a leisurely sip. Once I realized that his little habit was just that, I decided to take action. Poor Scout was going to have to cry it out a few nights, and re-learn how to give me a great night’s sleep! It really only took three nights of a little fussing, and my little guy is on his way to sleeping like an angel all over again!  And it actually turned out better than I could have hoped.  He used to get up at 6:30 am after sleepng all night, and now it is more like 7:30!

Marc…..the Hero!

I thought I had lost everything in my whole blog.  I was sick about it because I primarily have a blog for journaling reasons.  I couldn’t believe I had lost everything from last December.  What a rip……..until Marc Hemeon entered the picture!  He fixed the problem……Allelujiah!

So long ‘ol Blue Eyes

p1010242.JPG

When Scout was born, he had the greatest blue eyes. I absolutely loved them and hoped they would stay. About a month ago, they started to turn, and have landed on the coolest army green. I have to say I like these even more!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Shmickster!

The BIG 3-1 is finally here. I am glad you could join me! (When Micah and I started dating years ago, I was SO pleased to realize that my birthday was exactly one month ahead of his….which will always make me “one month older and one month wiser”! Enough to have “one up” on him, not enough to care about being “older”.) Can’t wait until you get back so we can CELEBRATE!

XOXO
I love you

Micah….????

This book showed up very mysteriously next to the laundry I was folding……Micah???  I figured the mystery gift giver stopped short of the trash can….so I helped him/her out by dumping it there.  See how organized I am!

Scout’s First Love

p1010225.JPG

Up until lately, Scout has been a pretty serious little guy - we call him the “Thinker”.  Anyone felt like they won the lottery when he smiled, and if he giggled…..that was like winning the lottery twice!  Life changed about two weeks ago when I headed into Babies ‘R Us and picked up the Rainforest Jumper.  Scout is in LOVE!  Whenever I walk towards the room where the jumper is, he starts jumping in my arms in excitement.  While he’s in it, the kid never stops.  He just jumps and smiles and giggles the whole time!  We all think he is getting great practice for his future…..I think he might be a world class volleyball player.  Micah thinks he might be a high jumper in the olympics. My mom thinks he might be a ballerina.  Well, he does have the pointed toes down!

He Sits!

p1010211.JPG

For the first time today, I decided to see if Scout could sit on his own.  I placed him in the position, and seven minutes later he finally fell over.  He started this upright, and by the end was in a full slump.  Micah is convinced that he will be running around by Christmas, when he is 8 months old. (Don’t worry…I know that is a serious stretch!) However, Micah was running around at 9 months…..HOLY COW!

Will Cry For Food….

Tristen really wanted to get a feel for what being a “mom” feels like, so she asked if she could take Scout this morning and feed him, dress him for church, etc.  I said fine, but to have him there on time - which she didn’t.  On the way to church, my mom asked if I had ironed Scout’s outfit.  I told her that I hadn’t, and that ironing was a “mom’s” duty.  I then picked up my cell phone to remind Tristen that her duties included ironing.  She told me there was no way she was going to iron the outfit.  I told her she had to bring him in a nicely pressed outfit.  She said she would do that WITHOUT ironing!

Scene 2 –

I am sitting in church.  Skylar gets my attention to tell me that Tristen has arrived with Scout.  I look back, and there is the cutest boy I have ever seen wrapped in a darling church blanket.  I thought his hair looked a little odd as it was totally slicked down and looked like it was styled by Hitler’s same guy.  I figured she just had bad taste in baby boy hair.  Then it was obvious that Tristen was up to no good when the blanket fell down and I saw in HUGE white block letters…”WILL CRY FOR FOOD”.  Tristen had “found” a nicely pressed, terry cloth, bright blue onesie that had “will cry for food” written on the front.  My mom was mortified, and I laughed, nodded my head yes and gave Tristen the thumbs up signal.  My mom expressed her disgust, and Tristen said, “You are lucky I even had this outfit.  I was going to put him in one of my workout t-shirts and just tie the bottom in a knot.”  I have to admit…that would have been even funnier! I also have to admit that Tristen’s kids are doomed!
