Happy 4th!

Our fourh of July was really fun this year.  We started the day off with a race event at the Laguna Niguel park.  I ran a 5K, and Micah ran a 10K, and then strolled Scout in the 5K.  My time was pretty slow, but I finished and felt pretty good.

Afterward, we had a BBQ/Swim party at my house with a lot of my family in town.  We started the morning off with a little DDR, and the classic was my mom vs. my dad.  I don’t know who looked more uncordinated.  My mom was really slow and couldn’t get the concept of jumping on the rolling arrow when it met the permanent arrow.  On the other hand, my dad was jumping like he had ants in his pants.  Megan got it on video tape, and it will definitely be a Ure classic.

After getting hot from DDR, we all headed down to the pool for swimming, relay races and diving contests.  I got a serious wake up call when I was picked last for the relays until I was the team captain.  But the really sad part is that I should have been picked last.  Due to me and my slow swimming, my team lost.  Whoops!  We also played Bocci Ball and Badminton.  I am proud to say that I was the two time winner in Bocci Ball - more than anyone else.  And as far as Badminton goes…..Bryan and I could use a little work.  We rallied for a while, and were trying to hit 20 back and forth hits, but only made it to 13.  But, to our credit, there was a pretty strong breeze.

We went inside for some tasty burgers my mom made, and then headed back out for more swimming, fun and games.  Finally, we ended the night with fireworks.  We initially planned on going to Three Arch, but decided to stay in Bear Brand.  First, Bryan lit a ton of fireworks he brought on our driveway.  I know they are illegal, but we like to live on the edge!  Then when the fireworks show started at Marco Forster, they are almost right above us.  Calin and Skylar wanted to get an even better view, so we drove up to the Hill of Terror to watch.  We stopped just shy of the hill, and had spectaculor seats!

What a fun holiday, and especially with so much family around!

How funny is this rock we came across in our yard when we were playing bocci ball! Buttons was their little hamster who never saw his 3rd birthday.

Ryan - the Baby Whisperer.

cimg0882.jpg

Ryan came into town for the fourth of July and has not put the baby down!  He has the history of being the baby whisperer, which started when Skylar was the worst baby in history.  (The girl never stopped crying until Ryan or Trilby was holding her.)  Scout loves him, and looks at him and smiles and smiles…and even laughs!

We All Scream for Ice Cream!

Scout is a little man after his momma’s heart!  I would like to say it was his first taste of ice cream (at two months), but he has had a few before…which is why I knew he would love it.  After tasting it, he just kept licking his lips for about a minute.  The first time he tried it was when he was being fussy one day.  I stuck the end of his plug in some and gave it to him…and not only did it stop the fussing, but he was sold!

Scout Wins for Most Popular!

I really think Scout is the most loved baby around!  Whenever anyone comes to my house, the first question is, “Where’s the baby?”  I especially love how every cousin of his is enamored by him.  You would think that because he is the 20th grandchild, the attitude would be, “been there, done that”, but it is the complete opposite.  I actually am to the point where I hand out Veto’s - which means you can’t hold him for the rest of the day.  Skylar got one the other day because I kept telling her to stop kissing him during his nap because she would wake him up.  About three minutes later, there he was with his bright eyes open!  She was SO mad about the veto…but she learned her little lesson!  Now she only does it when I am not looking.

BFF!

I have to say that Scummy Tacky is one of my favorite friends of ALL time!  No matter when I see her she is in a good mood, and no matter the time or place, she is up for fun!  It is always nice to have a friend who is 100% drama free.  And to top it all off, she has about the coolest husband on earth (next to the Shmickster!)  Shout out to Scumball Tacker!

Nerd Alert!

cimg0831.jpg

Last night Micah caught the entertainment part of the news when people were walking out of the Transformer’s movie getting interviewed.  They all said it was one of their favorite movies of all time, and a must see!  Micah got so excited, he ran down to the computer to see if there were any more showings last night.  Mind you…it was 11:15pm.  It just so happened there was a midnight showing, and he was battling in his head if he should go or not.  He asked me if I wanted to go, and I tried to act excited, but he saw right through it.  And to be honest, nothing sounded worse to me at that moment.  He called Tacky, but he was too tired.  So his tried and true midnight movie buddy, Calin Clifford, was totally up for the fun.  She was SO excited, she was ready in about five seconds.  Micah said it wasn’t until they were in the car that she asked what movie they were going to see!

I told Micah he had to take the camera to take pictures for Calin’s new blog and I asked this morning to see them.  Very interesting that Micah is not in even one of them!???  I told him if he went, I was going to blog about him and name it “Nerd Alert”.  When I asked him this morning why he wasn’t in any of the pictures, he said, “if I am not in any picture…than you can’t prove I was there.”  Well then, I guess Calin walked there!

Scout Laughed!

cimg0820.jpg

Skilly is the proud owner of Scout’s first laugh at 2 months and 1 week!  My mom is SO jealous, but it came after Skilly played with him and read to him for about two hours.  Nice job Skilly!

Sorry Skilly - Spit Up Stinks!

We went to Pines Park for our Rock and Roll Dana Point Concert.  Micah, Skilly Scout and I went early to reserve our spot and set up.  Skylar was watching her best friend Scout and lifting him up in the air like Superman.  Too bad for her that his tummy wasn’t settled completely after eating and he did a number all over her face about four times in a row.  The picture doesn’t even do it justice as her face was completely covered, and she got a big chunk in her mouth. Poor girl, but afterward she did say, “It tasted like chocolate milk.”  How—I am not quite sure!??

The concert was really fun.  The weather was beautiful with a nice breeze.  We had great food.  The music was fun with familiar songs I actually knew some of the words to. (At least I knew how to spell R-E-S-P-E-C-T!) And we had a great spot right in the front.  We went with my family, and our friends Doug and Mary Jolley met us down there.  These concerts make summer so fun!

Cutest Bloggers!

150846469-m.jpg 150846717-m.jpg

This morning I was catching up on my blogging near Calin and Skylar.  I showed them what I had done and also a few of my friend’s sites and then asked them if they wanted me to set one up for each of them.  They were totally excited, and were totally into it.  It took us a few minutes and we customized them to look the way they wanted.  I then taught them the basics, and they were off.  They were both glued to their laptops yesterday and both thanked me at least ten times.  I think they each did 3 - 4 posts, and they called all of their friends to look at them.  My favorite part is how classic their writing is.  They write like they speak, and there are no pretences whatsoever.  But the absolute classic was yesterday in the car, Skylar asked me after writing three posts, “So, when should I do my next blog?”  I told her she should do one every time there was something exciting so she could keep a record of it.  Then in an attempt to make sure blogging doesn’t take over her life, I told her she shouldn’t do more that one a day.  She responded with, “Whoa….that’s gonna be hard.  I LOVE blogging!”  She then proceeded to go home and post at least one more!

By the way Scummy — I am her favorite!  How you are even in the post she did for me is REDICULOUS!
