Food Ring

img_7525-2017-03-30-at-16-07-57.jpg
Dash is always sporting a food ring.  We can not get over what causes the filthy ring around his mouth every time he eats!  This dirty face was caused by one small bag of Doritos.  When I saw him after he ate them, I showed Micah, and we were laughing so hard about it.  How on earth can one little boy get so messy with so little???  Who knows, and quite frankly…who cares!  It provides more entertainment than harm.

Tired

There is only about 10 minutes in the day, where this girl isn’t full of pep and expression.  It’s the first few moments she wakes up.  Those are important moments, because they are the times when all she wants to do is get into the covers with me and cuddle.

Stink Bugs

Dash picked up a few friends along our hike today.  His two stink bugs were starting to slow him down, so I told him he should let them go.  He was so torn to let them go in a different place than he had found them.  He said, “But what if they can’t find their mommy and daddy?”  I convinced him that they were the mommy and daddy, and that he had reunited them.  He went for it, and found a lovely shaded spot for them to continue on in their holy matrimony.

Joiners

Our neighbors heard that Scout was doing morning laps, and their girls wanted in on the action.  So bright and early, Scout went to get the girls, and they all ran like banshees.  It was hilarious, because those girls are athletic and fast — and the boys were a little surprised.  Needless to say, those were the fastest laps to date!

March Madness

img_7477-2017-03-25-at-19-49-48.jpg
For family night, Scout told me he had the plan.  We all ended up going to the Hansens, and created our March Madness brackets!  Even Dash got in on the action.  He said he needed help, so I googled a current bracket, and we filled in the whole thing — changing the winner only.  (It said UCLA, and we knew our dad chose UCLA, and we also know he never wins anything like this!  So we switched it.) I’m not totally sold on this being the top notch Family Home evening…but it was a blast!  We all got into t pool with Hansen Jon’s friends — about 150 of them!  May the best bracketeer win!
Update: After numerous games, Scout and Navy were pretty much out of contention.  But not Dash!!!!  The google picks were doing great for us!  In the end, it came down to the final four…and the final game!  We were watching very intensely as we saw Dash’s picks go to third place out of 150 people.  In the end, he got fourth place in the whole competition!  Pretty rad for a five year old.  And third place went to Cade Hansen (who split his winnings with all the boys, per their agreement).  Hansen Jon said that all of his friends were asking how two of his people were basically in the finals to win it….Hansen Jon said, “I actually have no idea!”.

Todd

Our neighbors are rad — especially Todd.
First off, he sets up fun games, and plays with them.
And then…he lets it be his garage that the ball slams up against every afternoon in these mean games of handball.

Stacking Rocks

This afternoon, we put on wet suits and headed down to Hole in the Fence for some fun.

The twips played in the water and rocks…

While the cool cats had rock stacking competitions.
By cool cats — I mean Navy, Jason and me.
I was dominating….had it in the bag.
I think I was up to 26 rocks stacked.

Then stupid Jason demolished me.
Who invited him anyway?

Projected Mario

I’ll hand it to my husband…he sure knows how to create fun!
He took the only video game that should have ever been created, and projected it before an outdoor movie night.
I always say this…but my kids have NO IDEA how lucky they are.
NONE.

Mani/Pedi

Nonnie treated Pippi to her very first Mani/Pedi.
The ladies were almost fighting over who got to paint her nails.
img_7460-2017-03-24-at-13-35-32.jpg
Pippi was perfectly still, and loved every moment she was pampered.
As Nonnie and I were across the way getting our nails done, the ladies kept going up to Pippi to see if she wanted another flower, or more dots on her nails.  She didn’t refuse any of the free offers, and actually started telling the ladies what she wanted.  By the end, her nails were so gussied up…it was a little atrocious.  But Pippi thought she was living the life, and that she was more fair than every maiden in the land.

Pinewood Derby ‘17

It’s Pinewood Derby time again.  Scout has been working really hard to better his best ranking of third place.  He has sanded, refined and lubed up his car for hours and hours.  When Dash saw the excitement, he got his own wood block and made a Pinewood Derby car.  Micah and I literally helped them zero percent.  But Seth and Cade took charge, and got them all geared up.  I actually love that the kids do it…I think it means more for them.

When we got there, Dash was way underweight, so Tony Powell pitched in.  Dash was beaming to be a part of it all.

Scout’s car was amazing…he kept getting first place finishes.
img_7447-2017-03-23-at-19-36-24.jpg
In the end, it came down to Scout’s car, and one other for the tie breaker.
Ultimately, Scout took second place…and he was thrilled.
Dash….he took dead last…and he was thrilled!
Scout wanted to place, Dash wanted to race…and all was well in the world.
